Cure acne scars*

Have you experienced numerous acne outbreaks in the past and now have scars? It is difficult to get rid of acne scars because many of them are deep in the skin.

It is important to understand the differnent type of scars that can occur with acne. We find that not all acne scars are the same.  Some can be treated easier than others.

There is the ice pick scar, aptly named for its shape. These are shallow and deep while having jagged edges and steep sides. They may or may not be very wide. Generally they are found on the cheeks.  However, they can also be labeled “depressed fibrotic scarring”.”

Boxcar scars resemble scars that can be left behind after chickenpox. These scars have sharp edges and are usually oval shaped. Sometimes they are deep and sometimes they are not. You can usually find them on the temples and on the cheeks.

There are rolling scars named for their appearance of rolling hills. Caused by tissue damage under the skin which makes lasers and dermabrasion not useful. They generally have to be treated with subcision.

Last of all, hypertrophic scars are small red bumps. They tend to fade with time.  Also they are not always caused by acne.

Some people are able to cure acne scars by using subcision. The average cost can be up to $1,000 per treatment. This procedure detaches the upper layer of skin from the deeper tissue, it allows blood flow into the opening and raises the skin. It may take several treatments to get the most effective results.

Punch treatments are a little cheaper and can cure acne scars by several different methods. One method is to cut out the scar and replace it with a skin graft. The scar can be cut out and the surrounding skin stretched to cover it. Thirdly, the scar is cut loose and the tissued allowed to heal on its own.

Chemical peels are also used to cure acne scars. The cost can be from $500 to $800. Sometimes a form of acid is applied, removed taking a top layer of skin. While it can be painful, the strongest chemical peels are like a burn which is treated with antibiotics and bandages.

Acne scars can be treated with dermabrasion. Dermabrasion The top layer of skin is removed by sanding it off. However, the results can be short term.

Similar to dermabrasion, laser treatments have help some and others report the scar returns. Laser treatments are considered to be expensive and not available for all scars.

Acne scar creams are available.  They are less invasive, less painful and less expensive. The best creams reported the most helpful contain coca butter, Vitamin E and hydrofluoric acid. The hydrofluoric acid should be supervised by a doctor and not used on your own.
